AI and Photography
Artificial Intelligence is a hot and controversial subject at the moment. In this presentation I give a simple overview of where recent technological advances have been made in AI and how these impacts on us as photographers now and could do in the future. I discuss and explain the stances made by major photographic societies and then encourage a lively question and answer session. At the end of the evening attendees will have a much clearer idea of what AI actually is and will have a stronger idea of their own stance on the issue of AI and photography.
Composition in Photography
In this presentation I give an overview of the different composition techniques used in all the areas of creative design and, with examples, demonstrate how they can be applied to photography. Good composition comes naturally to many photographers, but this is often by instinct rather than logic. The aim of this talk is to give the audience a greater depth of understanding of how taking photographs with planned composition, that is, by positioning the elements with consideration, can strengthen the final image, wherever the genre.
The Magic of Colour
A lively exploration of the science of colour and how colour influences our perception of photographic images. Through discussion and examples the aim of this talk is to help to: - Increase your awareness of colour. - Help you to see potential shots in a slightly different way. And most importantly attempt to assist in the quest to capture that perfect image…
My original Optical Illusions lecture was so well received that I now have too much material for one presentation, so I have split it into 2 separate ones. However, they can be compressed into a single evening if required.
Optical Illusions (1 of 2) - Shape and Form
Every photograph an optical illusion - a 2-dimensional representation of our 3-D world Through discussions and examples the aim of this talk is to help to: - question assumptions about the nature of visual reality - approach the content of shots with an alternate thought process. - see potential shots in a slightly different way.
Optical Illusions (2 of 2) - Movement
Still photographs can be optical illusions - a motionless representation of our active world. This illustrated talk gives tips, tricks and alternative ideas of how we can approach the depiction of movement in photography.
